This twisty story started with a day when the wife of a local labourer asked Jacob Davis, a tailor, to make a pair of pants for her husband that wouldn’t fall apart. Jacob tried to think of a way to strengthen his trousers and came up with the idea to use metal rivets at the fabric stress points like pocket corners. These experimented pants became a hit instantly. Jacob quickly decided to patent the process, but needed a business partner to help get the project rolling. He immediately thought of Levi Strauss, an eligible businessman, from whom he had purchased the cloth to make his riveted pants.
Davis wrote to Levi regarding the idea of filing the patent together. Levi agreed to Jacob’s proposal for this smash hit product. The two men received patent #139,121 from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on May 20, 1873.
In its initial days, people thought of Jeans as a uniform to be worn by workers and were reluctant to accept it as a casual fabric. But, as the time passed by, with the noble experiments of this durable product by Jacob & Levi, people changed their perspective about it and started to wear Jeans. Gradually, it became a significant part of casual wear leading its path to the essence of fashion.

It appeals to a great extent. It has evolved as a part of almost every youngster’s day-to-day life, starting from ‘Tuition in the early morning to late night masti with friends’.
